Hi Tan. 15 hours PIC in a ME airplane is required to get your MEI rating. In your case, seems like you already have well over 15 hours PIC in a multi engine airplane. So, yes, you do not need to do it again.

Actually just found this from the Orlando FSDO:
 <a href="http://www.faa.gov/about/office_org/field_offices/fsdo/orl/local_more/cfi_program/media/CFI%20ENDORSEMENTS_10-13-2011.pdf" rel="nofollow">http://www.faa.gov/about/office_org/field_offices...</a>

They do list endorsement number 5. I became a CFI without this endorsement. So did my CFI. So did every CFI at my school.

Different strokes for different FSDOs.

Number 5 is NOT required. It's NOT mentioned in 61.183 as an eligibility requirement. Also, 61.31 has changed the time span for prerequisite training in preparation for a practical test from 60 days to 2 calendar months.

Got my AGI after the private just to learn more. Later I picked up an IGI--that was tough but very satisfying. Never used them much, but believe they have given me a much stronger knowledge of aviation. It's too bad writtens have become more expensive, but if you can swing it I'd recommend picking up the certificate.

LOA is required. It\'s just that it is no longer \"make and model\" specific. Now the DPE\'s are able to conduct checkrides in ALL General Aviation Small Twins (provided they have 5 hours PIC in the make and model). You may want to run this by with your local FSDO. I am sure this is a \"policy\" matter and therefore, I don\'t have a citation to present. However, I did verify again a couple of days ago, and this seems to be true at least in the SAC FSDO.

You motivated me to get my IGI and AGI last year. I ended up coteaching a ground school class with another CFI. The CFI also allowed me to give private instruction to his students. I was making more per hour than most CFIs as the pilot puppy mills. Thank you and I hope this success story encourages others to do it as well!

I am a major airline jumbo jet captain and yes this Kelly needs to work on his professionalism and correct pilot/ instructor attotude. To those of you not so fortunate or unfortunate , I apologize on behalf of those airline pilots who aren`t this arrogant and consider you all professionals.

Thanks, Delta
